History
Sons of Barbarous and children of war, the seventeenth infantry company is lead by Major Verr. A contingent of the third great company spared from the fate of so many on Istivan III by a note keeping manipulation performed by an undercover agent of the Alpha Legion posing as a member of the Deathguard who had serendipitously embedded with the one-seven. Upon their change of fate and new role as traitor; being spared death only to embrace turning on their cousins was a role the one-seven would be early and often called upon to carry out. Verr being of logistical mind sees his outfit implementing Mortarians triumpherant of war: bolters, flamers, & meltas in order to keep astadies well supplied. Verr himself has said to have dabbled in some of the witchcraft indigenous to Barbarous and when he takes to the field of battle there is an eerie dirge that follows him and is said to inspire fearlessness in all sons of Barbarous. The Major also carries a twin-linked heavybolter, a power claw, and a mastercrafted power maul that had been a scythe as his penolopy, the brutish nature of Verr had bent his scythe to ruination so often the mecanicum rebuild it shorter with the blade wrapped about the shaft more in the fashion of a mace and removed the second handle to suit his mauling personality. Subsequently the one-seven are asked to wage war in a similar likeness of their leader: swarming infantry tactics, swamping the enemy in overwhelming numbers, supported by heavy weapons teams, dreadnoughts, and mortars the one-seven sees its share of attrition and turned to fanatic cultists to fill the ranks as the heresy ground on towards Terra.
