Battle Summary

      • via astropathic relay node 66275scriptum12***
      • from Praevian Consul Rahim Lanarkos, acting commander***
      • I am delayed with this report and wish that we had full comprehension of the events of the last several days, but we are still trying to assess the situation at Kug’Arkal prior to returning to the Iron Perimeter. Following on the heels of our hostile encounter during re-supply on Dogon Station, our auguries detected movements from what appeared to be a detachment of Astartes bearing similar livery to those who attacked us in the station hallways. They were on the planets surface, clustered around a fuel relay station, attempting to prepare a large amount of promethium for airlift off-planet.
      • We sent down an interception force, primarily for eradication, but with a secondary objective to capture one of their commanders for questioning. During the engagement, our forces acquitted themselves with iron and fire, and we managed to destroy all of their prized fuel tanks before they could complete their airlift. No capture was possible, however, and we lost 70% of our complement. It can be considered an acceptable loss, given the complete annihilation of their commander and all of his retinue, as well as the 100% resource denial. Commander Drange was lost in the battle. While regrettable, enough of his corpus retained iron and will, and he has been placed in suspension. I believe he will be an excellent candidate for the honor of the encasing, and I hope to fight at his side again.
      • I will close with a disturbing observation. While their outward livery was nearly identical to those we fought in the corridors of Dogon, their demeanor and materiel were markedly different. There were none of the unusual power knives, and vox relays from the close engagements clearly recorded several of the Astartes shouting the war cry “for Istvaan and Corvus”, a reference to which I have no clear referent or explanation. Has the Ravenguard gone feral or is some strange division occurring within their ranks, and indeed the galaxy?
      • We make the transition to the Iron Perimeter in 6 standard hours. I will share more personal speculations when we arrive back at the prime orbital. In the meantime, I would advocate for a complete cordon of our territory. Whatever movements are afoot, it appears that there are rogue elements within the legions and that we should trust no-one apart from our own brethren or a direct order from Dorn or Terra.
